Only 25km from Malaga International Airport is the town of Fuengirola.; easily accessible by road, train or bus.
Previously a tiny fishing village, Fuengirola has become a vibrant town with lots of character.
It has seven kilometres of sandy beaches and a lovely promenade stretching from the castle to Torreblanca. On the beach you can find lots of water sports and activities such as jet-skis, paragliding and boat trips across the bay to Benalmadena.

The town has plenty of tapas bars and restaurants. The main square (Plaza de la Constitucion) features the Parish church with a clock and bell tower. The square is a lovely focal point and meeting place overlooking a large water feature, seating areas and café -bars and shops.
The landmark castle (Sohail) is clearly visible and stands proud on the far end of Fuengirola beach. It dates back to Moorish times and is used every July and August for open-air concerts and events (such as: Medieval market and German beer festival)
In the centre of town you can find Fuengirola zoo (Bioparc)- a very good place to take children during summer holidays - and it only closes at mid-night in July and August.

The Water Park (Parque Acquatico Mijas) can be reached by a direct bus service from Fuengirola bus station. It not only has pools and water-slides and adventure rides but also a mingolf, gift shop and picnic area.
For shoppers there are not only the local shops around the town but there is also a retail park and commercial centre (Miramar) reached by a 5 minute circular bus journey from the main bus station.
Between Fuengirola and Los Boliches you can find the main fairground area which holds weekly markets. It is also used for fiestas and celebrations throughout the year (La feria de los pueblos, feria de octubre)

Fuengirola also has its own bullring and during the October feria there is a traditional bull- run through the streets.
If you are planning to re-visit Fuengirola after a gap of 10 years, then prepare yourself to take in the changes as you will be very impressed. From September 2011 a new river-park is to be opened which is to feature boat rides, a children’s play area, basketball pitch, table-tennis tables, seating areas, picnic tables and much more…
